Tuesday Tidbits...
Okay,  so it was hot yesterday...get ready, because it's gonna be hot again today. (yes, it's still summertime in the city)
And while it won't be AS sunny as Monday, it will be a tad warmer.
Our Hoosierland weather for today bring us partly cloudy skies, temps reaching up to around 86 degrees, and no rain (yet).
That should make us all want to get a refreshing drink to start the day, ss we see what else has been going on...right?
*** First out of the litter pan is our "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
AUGUST 14 -
---It's National Creamsicle Day
(the only thing your tongue will stick to in summer heat)
---It's National V-J Day
(victory against Japan and the end of WW2 )
*** Next, and since we have arrived at another Tuesday, let's look to the FWPD blotter and see all those police calls we SHOULD have heard about, but didn't...

Well, THAT'S more like it with the damn fireworks...finally! Still have some dumbasses, though.
(what else is new in FTW?)
*** Next up, Red River waste removal took out a full page ad this past Sunday.
http://www.wpta21.com/story/38872012/trash-collection-company-apologizes-for-missed-pickups
It was a good apology, as apologies go. Personally, I'd like to see the kind of service we had back in January...more consistent times of pickup (which tells me drivers got the route down) and no missed pickups like we've had for the past TWO weeks.
It seems our service suffered about the same time as other neighborhood took to complaining. That tells me there is a staffing/training issue.
I do prefer to give someone the benefit of the doubt, so lets not let me down (along with others who feel likewise).
*** Next, like the old song goes "There'll be a change in the weather..." possibly coming to Indiana. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20180812/study-climate-change-to-alter-states-landscape
I gotta say, that pretty much looks like some "axial tilt" happening  to old planet earth.
Now, that's not mentioned in the article, and probably for  good reason. Who wants to cause a worldwide panic over something humanity has absolutely NO control over, right?
Better to keep us all "in the dark" so we can continue our petty bickering, and our bellicose posturing.
Though, I will admit that with all the smoke and ash being tossed into the air from around the world, we just might see some global cooling in a couple years.
And, let's all remember to not diminish that CO2 level...because plants need it to survive, and as a result, WE need plants to survive.
Call it a "circle of life" kinda gig.
Yeah, it's a real WIN-WIN there,
We don't want to wind up like our neighbor, Mars, do we?
*** Next up, let's tale a stroll over to our "Kitten Corner"...
The kids were doing fine yesterday, and spent a lot of time not getting into stuff, or chasing any bugs that managed to infiltrate our "Fortress". Naturally, there was the obligatory head-rub time, and neck scratching, and purring.
Then, there were all the things that cats do.,..LOL. Nah, I'm just messin;' with 'ya.
Sometimes, you really do have to turn it all off and enjoy life, whether you have two legs, or four.
*** Next, it's time once again to check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Our furry duo spent all day on or near the patio, which puts my mind at ease. Midnight didn't even go on patrol (guess he feels the area is secure for the time being). A very smart cat.
Whiskers did venture outside the "battlements", but didn't stray that far. Guess the roaming (shouting) kids had something to do with that.
That's fine, the cats must know they're both safe INSIDE our walls
*** Last back to the water bowl...Wifey and I got a reply about the cat that we sent off to Animal Care and Control last week - "Boots".
Well, congratulations are in order...IT'S A BOY!
That's the good news. The rest is not as pleasant as we would prefer.
His blood work came back fine, but he's still not gaining that much weight (it hasn;t been that long).
There are two options available at this time.
1) We can take him in as another community cat, but keep him "indoors" (like the garage) for a brief time. That has it's own problems connected to it, not the least of which is having him get out and about, or get into something and get hurt..
AC&C said they would provide a shelter and food, but that's not the issue. The logistics alone would be complicated at best.
There's also possible territorial issues with our other two cats, and the "lay of the land", as it were, in the area, with the danger it would present.
And, if we add another, you know more will come.
Just this morning, I open the back door, and there is another "newbie" cat - an orange tabby with white feet, staring back. Fortunately, it went away (how far remains to be seen).
While I'd much rather our house become a CAT magnet, than an IDIOT magnet (the "locals" see to that one), each has it's own set of problems.
And then...we come to the other option:
2) Euthanasia. Now this just tears me the hell up. I can't just say "go ahead and do it", even if I know the onus of such a decision is not directly upon my shoulders, but I'm still contributing to this little guy's demise...that's hard to shake, especially after losing Penny and Rassie (and our Hobo, who just up and disappeared a couple years ago).
AC&C is full up with cats and they have to regularly "decrease the surplus population", so we know what that means.
Got a LOT of soul-searching to do in the next 24 hours (we have to let them know by tomorrow).
There is an excellent quote from Doctor Who that covers just this instance.
Whatever choices we make in life, there are always consequences to deal with, good or bad.
Never forget that, folks.
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

"Thanos is paying..." But I am NOT tipping that bony waitress...

VJ HOORAY!

Why on earth should there have been occasion for a second molesting in two days on Main?

I liked what Douglas B Pritchett said on FB about the apology- They'll apologize to the guys that gave them the contract- but NO apology to the customers that got stiffed.

Sorry to hear about Boots. If he's still not gaining weight, though, might have to accept that there is a reason for that, and show a little mercy. Especially before the ties start to bind...

Chris:
---TO be honest, Thanos will be paying more than he knows...heh.
And yes, NO tipping the waitress (in ANY direction).
---Lack of police? Busy individual? More than one perps?
(all of the above?)
---To me at this point, the BEST "apology" would be timely pickups on the intended days...nothing less should suffice.
---Yeah, it's too easy for me to get attached to the helpless dogs and cats who can't even get a chance in life.
I have an email to compose and send off to AC&C soon.
Not looking forward to that, but I always go back to what the DOCTOR said in today's ending quote.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting today.

Stay safe (and cooled off) up there, brother.
