Humpday Happenings...
Welcome to our weekly mid-week crisis that we affectionately cal WEDNESDAY.
And it's a little warmer outside, but that comes with a bit of a price.
Our Hoosierland weather for today brings us mostly cloudy skies (it was nice to see the sun yesterday), temps rising into the low 40s, and a good chance of precipitation around midday.
Could be some light snow (no accumulation expected) and some light rain (not the usual soaking type).
You might want to gauge your attire and riving appropriately...just n case.
Now, with that done, let's see about getting a comforting beverage to start the day, as we see what else has been going on..
*** First off of the compost heap is our WHO SAID THAT? quote for the week:
"Each day offers us the gift of being a special occasion if we can simply learn that as well as giving, it is blessed to receive with grace and a grateful heart."
I think this typifies what this time of year really means, and if more people practiced such thoughts and behaviors NOT just now, but ALL year long. Yes, we can hope.
So, who said that? The answer at the top of tomorrow's post.
Meanwhile, back in Westbury, NY...
*** Next, time for the "What the hell happens today, Bob?" feature:
DECEMBER 12 -
---It's Gingerbread House Day
(wonder why I never see a ranch-style with a 2 car garage?)
---It's National Ambrosia Day
(the best can be found at church pot luck dinners...trust me)
---It's National Ding-A Ling Day
(oh, I thought it had to do with politics...silly me)
---It's  National Poinsettia Day
(lovely plant but keep it away from all the pets)
*** Next up...Yes, Virginia, we have our share of Holiday Pricks out there. Here's the story:
https://wpta21.com/news/2018/12/10/grinch-steals-christmas-but-one-man-is-stealing-it-back/
Why people do such things is beyond me.
They seem to relish in taking away from others for a moment of self-aggrandizing pleasure, however perverse it might be.
Such morons would most likely be the FIRST ones to cry and whine should anything similar happen to them. Jerks!
*** Next...Tis the season to be "lenient"? Looks that way. Here's the story:
http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/20181212/father-takes-plea-in-infants-death
((Julio Carrillo, 20, pleaded guilty Friday in Allen Superior Court to charges of felony neglect and battery.
The murder charge will be dropped as part of the agreement, which calls for him to spend 30 years in prison and five years on probation after the sentence is completed.))
Yep, another plea deal. That's what an infant's life is worth these days, folks.
*** Next up...Here's the type of city councilman I wish OUR district had:
https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/are-tifs-a-bad-investment-for-tax-payers-/1654203361
Are all those TIF funds worth the price people are paying? Apparently not.
These are the kinds of studies this city NEEDS...a serious oversight that keeps track of all the money going out, and to whom...and for which reason.
Talk about such a small bang for our bucks...well done.
*** Next, it's time to drop by our "Kitten Corner"...
Daddy moved the chair and here I am.
Our kids had a decent day, and they seemed a bit calmer. to which I was ecstatic.
Naturally, they have to check out everything I bring upstairs in the way of decoration bins...curiosity is surely a feline trait (more than a dog, really).
I iz still being a good girl.
Other than that...they;'re both still on the "nice" list.
*** Next up, let's check in with "Midnight and Whiskers"...
Stretching her legs in the sun.
Our furry twosome spent some of the day near the house., When the sun came out, they went ou5t to check out the neighborhood...like it needs it. A waste of time in my book. Nevertheless, they were back for all their meals and got some hand held treats after that.
Wha? You talkin' to ME?
Midnight has a new "thing"...he comes by the back steps and will stand at the door and meow. So, he gets a few more treats. Whiskers just dazzles us with her cuteness.
Talk about having US trained...lol. A shame it's too dark to get a good picture.
*** Last back to the culvert.. . at this time of year, those of us who UNDERSTAND what the season really means like to revel in the joy and grace in the birth of our Savior.
Unfortunately, we're seeing more and more instances of Grinch-like behavior.
Chris Martin had a very good post yesterday addressing just that. Go and read it.
There are some out there who don't want US to be happy at yuletide, and will stop at nothing to decry and demean OUR celebration   and our religious beliefs.
Now, if some asshat (or group thereof) wants to not be joyful...fine, go somewhere else and leave OUR holiday ALONE...kapeesh?
And leave our worship of God alone while you're at it.
Bill O'Reilly said this YEARS ago...there IS a war on Christmas.
Banning nativity scenes and other related things that clearly denote Christmas, not even saying "Merry Christmas" and such were just the opening salvos...and it's not let up since.
Let's just put all this politicizing of Christmas  whee it belongs...in the DUNG HEAP.
It's time those who cherish the meaning of this time of year spoke up...and loudly.
It may not be "in character" for many to do such a thing, but to do nothing in the hope that it just goes away puts them on the side of those who are causing this war on Christmas and Christianity.
We're all better than that...or at least  weshould WANT to be better...right?
Be well, make a difference to someone, and...
Stay SAFE out there, America.

Mid-week crisis? Out of work 7:42 AM... sent home for the week an hour later... that second shift really paid off, lol...

Good quote! I'm still learning the giving part, though...

Gingerbread: The kind you want require the Tim Taylor "use caulk" method...

Ding-a-Ling... how 'bout that? A day for the voice in the back of my head!

Vandalism:I was thinking the same about our walk today- remember the boat docking only signs at the landing after the DB on the concrete that me and Scrappy just missed last year? Yup, nothing but the holes left. SMDH...

Carillo: At least he gets some fraction of 30 years... hopefully he'll be treated accordingly.

TIF:An intelligent non-politician would have known that WITHOUT a study... but I grant you the unusual-ness of a pol getting it WITH a study...

Midnight and W have a lot more interesting things to look at at their level...

My friend Kelli had a great comment on my post on FB- the dishonesty of their "diversity" gets exposed because they don't even try to show anybody else's winter celebrations either. For example, they did a thing on Hannukah at her 1st grader's school that Kelli described as "a joke". Nora had questions that pointed to the fact that they really taught the kids absolutely nothing. This is a bright kid who would have grasped it had it been TAUGHT.

Chris:
---That's part of the "fun" in life...you never know WHERE that (next) blessing is gonna come from, right?
---We can only give SO much, and I keep asking God to make me rich, so I can show him that being wealthy will NOT spoil me...so far...nada...heh.
The best recourse is to choose your charities wisely, and with purpose.
---Only if that caulk is made from 10X sugar!
---WTH? Who wants a stinking sign? And at the boat dock no less...sheesh!
---He'll find a whole crop of "friends" in the hoosegow. Many of them don't take kindly to baby-killers.
---I agree. But I do admire the depth of that study. We need more of that from years past...find out where our money went (besides down the crapper).
---They're like a balm to my spirit on many days. Something ELSE to be thankful for.
---Kelli's right. These people are getting so bold as to deny ALL observances...and to what end?
That just pisses off MORE folks at these loons.
These losers must have some sort of masochistic streak in them.
Yeah...high time to PUSH BACK...a LOT.

Hey, thanks for stopping by today and commenting.

Stay safe (and well-rested) up there, brother.
